Specialty Eye MDs is a large and comprehensive Ophthalmology practice in New Jersey. We are the recognized leader in vision care treating adults and children. We are seeking a detail-oriented; 

JOB TITLE: BILLING SUPERVISOR

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Billing Supervisor will supervise a team of accounting clerks to produce monthly project statements, and act with management to create highly detailed client-specific invoices. You will also be accountable for resolving matters connected with project management, client requests, and project accounting by designing and implementing methods related to the billing process. You will organize and monitor billing assistants to promote efficiency within the Billing Department.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assign appropriate diagnosis, procedure codes and modifiers to accurately report the physician services provided to patients
  • Accurately coding and billing healthcare claims in order to obtain reimbursement from insurance companies and other providers
  • Ensures clean billing process
  • Reconciles billings with the accounts received ledger
  • Follows-up on accounts that require further evaluation
  • Work with the Front Desk Supervisor to ensure proper information is received for claims processing
  • Monitor the billing metrics database
  • Develop and prepare Productivity Reports for Doctors on a monthly basis
  • Utilize metrics to improve performance in collaboration with Practice Manager
  • Support internal and external auditors
  • Updates billing policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines
  • Communicate with management on day-to-day issues
  • Lead a team of Billing Clerks to improve office collections, A/R, communicate issues & resolution
  • Supervise Collections activities from Patients and Insurance aging balance accounts.
  • Supervise the Release of Forms & Charts for (1) Disability Agencies (2) Insurance Companies (3) Patients Charts requests (4) Legal entities needing Billing & Records Data
  • Manage and ensure compliance with control objectives
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, coding guidelines, State and Federal regulatory bodies

 

 BILLING SUPERVISOR REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Valid Medical Coding Certificate; CPC (Certified Professional Coder) by AAPC
  • Minimum 5 years Medical Billing and Coding, with 2 years in Ophthalmology.
  • Experience with Insurance terminology, products, notices and explanation of reasons for payment, adjustments, denials and / or uncovered charges of a medical claim.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a similar role
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time appropriately
  • Experience with a large customer base and high transaction volume
  • Ability to translate and analyze data into reports
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior Medical Billing & Coding experience in an Ophthalmology office.
